What is visceral manipulation?
Visceral manipulation is the practice of an experienced therapist using his or her hands to move and release fascial restrictions in your abdomen and pelvis to encourage the normal movement and function of your internal organs. Most people are familiar with the idea of joint and muscle restrictions causing tightness, pain and limited movement in their bodies, but don’t consider the role of their organs.
What is neural manipulation?
Neural manipulation is very similar to that of visceral manipulation, but instead of focusing on the organs, it addresses the fascia restrictions of the nerves.
What is myofascial trigger point therapy?
Trigger point therapy is the release of tight bands using static pressure, friction and other tactics within a muscle that refer pain to other parts of the body.
What is Fascial Stretch Therapy (FST)?
FST differs from traditional stretching because the technique is based on addressing the body’s fascial net system. It uses specialized cueing that creates fast and effective results. FST addresses imbalances - bringing the body back into alignment for optimal function. The technique activates the parasympathetic nervous system, providing opportunity to reap the benefits of de-stressing the body both emotionally and physically. Individuals will leave sessions feeling more joint mobilization and muscle elongation. Frequency may vary in preference of 1 to 2 times per week, once per month, or on an as-needed basis. Each stretch session is tailored to the individual’s specific needs.
What can Fascial Stretch Therapy (FST) help with?
If you have the following, FST could be a beneficial technique for you.
- Hip or shoulder misalignment
- Muscular imbalances
- Past trauma (emotional or physical)
- Anxiety/depression
- Mobility issues
- Balance issues
- Past injury
- Repetitive movements (due to sports performance, often seen in golf or tennis)
- Anyone just wishing to enjoy a full body stretch!
